Positive: The view was stunning and I loved the concept.
Negative: The property itself is beautiful and in a lovely remote setting, but unfortunately our experience was really let down by poor communication around the advertised facilities. We stayed here on the second night of our honeymoon and had specifically bought a substantial amount of food to use the BBQ. However, after arriving we discovered that guests are expected to provide their own wood for both the BBQ and fire pits. This was not made clear anywhere before arrival or in the check-in information. We only found this out after asking where the wood was, and after waiting over an hour for a response we were told after 8pm that we would need to source it ourselves. The property is in a remote location and we were travelling by motorbike, so doing almost a one-hour round trip in the dark just to buy wood was simply not realistic. What made this more frustrating was that we were told by text that someone would sort the issue for us, so we waited, but nobody did. As a result we couldn’t use the BBQ as planned and ended up having to throw away a substantial amount of food. We were also surprised that guests are apparently expected to source wood and light the communal fire pits themselves. If BBQs and fire pits are advertised as facilities, I think any requirement to bring your own fuel should be made very clear before arrival rather than expecting guests to contact the property in advance to ask how they can use them. The property did offer complimentary use of the sauna as an apology, which we appreciated, but unfortunately we didn’t have time to use it and it didn’t resolve the issue. It’s a real shame because the accommodation itself was lovely, but for such an expensive stay the lack of clear information and the way the issue was handled was disappointing.
Summary: Beautiful property, but poor communication about the advertised facilities.
